BASIC FUNCTION:

Plan, organize, implement and coordinate a project, program or activity having an overall impact on the District and requiring a variety of standard practices and procedures; contacts outside the unit are limited to routine matters; require routine supervision.

SUMMARY:

Under professional direction, to plan, organize, and coordinate the gifted/talented program; to plan, organize, and coordinate the gifted/talented instructional training program design and delivery systems to ensure optimal opportunities and growth experiences; to assist in the planning, organization and coordination of research and development processes, including product services audit and evaluation processes; to participate in the District gifted/talented education master planning activities; and to do other related functions as directed.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

• Build teacher capacity through collaboration and consultation with teachers to plan classroom differentiation instruction for gifted learners through meetings and/or PLCs.
• Assist teachers with GT materials and research based strategies to use for differentiating instruction.
• Initiates the data collection and analysis process for GT and Primary Talent Pool referrals.
• Provide GT services through both pull out programs and teacher collaboration.
• Communicates with school on new students for possible GT identification.
• Administer tests and analyze scores for the identification of grades 4-12 students for GT services.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by state GT regulations, district policy, and administration regulations, pertaining to GT teacher and students.
• Conference with GT students to discuss gifted related issues.
• Communicates with parents regarding student GT strengths, goals, and progress.
• Inform parents of enrichment opportunities beyond regular classroom experiences.
• Continuously strive to improve professional competence and collaboration with colleagues and communities.
• Monitor student’s progress, keep appropriate records, and prepare reports on a regular basis.
• Chairperson on the school GT committee.
• Request, collect, and analyze referrals for gifted learners.
• Writing and revision of Gifted Students Service Plans.
• Organization of Duke Tip Talent Search.
• Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Maintain a good rapport with faculty and staff.
• Adhere to the professional code of ethics.
• Be familiar with and incorporate the use of technology in daily tasks.
• Performs other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Principal, Supervisor of Instruction, or Superintendent.
• Perform responsible duties in support of the RTI program at the district or school site level.
• Work closely with other program personnel to coordinate activities and assure compliance with program and district directives. 
• Provide various services and implement functions for the program involving direct or indirect contact with students, parents, outside program officials, regulatory agencies and others.
• Monitor files and records regarding participants, students, parents, proper statistics and data and other matters.
• Review and monitor RTI programs as assigned at specific sites; diagnose problems and provide feedback for proper resolutions.
• Represent the RTI program at the district, school and community meetings and conferences as directed.
• Analyze program material and provide input for modification as required; review criteria of students and determine program eligibility.
• Research, collect and compile data as directed to develop reports; analyze data and suggest implications.
• Be willing to substitute teach when a sub is unavailable.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Any combination equivalent to:Holds valid Kentucky teaching certification and an endorsement in Gifted Education.
